Join this hands-on photo walk designed for beginner to intermediate photographers who are ready to break free from controlled environments and start creating anywhere. In this real-world experience, you’ll learn how to see light differently, adapt quickly, and build confidence shooting on location—no matter the conditions.
Using just 1–2 off-camera flashes, we’ll explore how to shape, control, and elevate natural light in unpredictable environments. You’ll see how simple lighting setups can produce dynamic, polished results without the need for bulky gear or a traditional studio.

About Toni Shaw:
Toni Shaw, a native of Burlington, NC, was raised in Altamahaw, NC, and currently resides in Greensboro, NC. She is the principal photographer and owner of Shaw Photography Group, a thriving business she has led in Greensboro for over 18 years. With a background in Fine Arts from Winston-Salem State University, Shaw’s creative journey began with graphic design, portrait painting, and mural work, selling her art to numerous clients. Transitioning into photography, she has built an impressive portfolio working with major companies such as Bank of America, Delhaize (Food Lion) Corporation, and Wells Fargo. Her work has been featured in national publications like Essence, Savoy, and various trade and local magazines.
Shaw has photographed an array of high-profile figures, including Patti LaBelle, Robert F. Smith, Rev. Jesse Jackson and his family, and Fantasia, among many others. Her versatility spans multiple photography genres, specializing in portraits, weddings, boudoir, construction, maternity, and more. With a deep-rooted passion for capturing authentic moments, she excels in creating images that reflect the beauty of unscripted and unplanned experiences.
Recognized as an acclaimed contemporary photographer based in Greensboro, Shaw has earned both local and national awards for her striking, vibrant imagery. Her eclectic and free-spirited nature is evident in her work, where she has cultivated a distinct signature style marked by powerful compositions and intense colors.
